When building a new custom green home with BPC Green Builders, you’re investing in more than just a well-built, custom-designed house. We stake our reputation on the fact that our homes are comfortable, energy efficient, and healthy and safe to live in.
How do we do this? With a combination of state-of-the-art HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) equipment and indoor air quality systems included with every new home we build. Today we’re going to break down the different components of these systems and how they work together to create a better home for your family.
What Are the Different Parts of a BPC Green Home’s HVAC System?
The HVAC equipment and fresh air systems installed in a new BPC Green Home are not just about heating and cooling. What we install is a carefully designed system that integrates various components to ensure the home operates at peak efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of indoor comfort and air quality. Here’s what a typical BPC HVAC system includes:
- Air-to-Air and Air-to-Water Heat Pump Systems
Air source heat pumps provide both heating and cooling by transferring heat between the inside of your home and the outside. Unlike traditional HVAC systems that burn fossil fuels, heat pumps are powered by electricity, and are highly energy efficient, making them a cleaner, greener choice.
- High MERV Filter for Air Filtration
Our systems include MERV filters (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) with high ratings that all the air circulating through your home passes through. Even standard heating and cooling systems include some kind of air filter, but our MERV filters can capture far smaller airborne particles than regular filters, including dust, pollen, other allergens, and sub-micron particles, removing them from the air you breathe inside and significantly improving indoor air quality.
- Whole-Home Dehumidification for Summer
During the sticky summer months, many homeowners run their air conditioning not to cool down the temperature but because the high humidity is making them uncomfortable, since air conditioners help remove moisture from the air.
But running your AC just to dehumidify isn’t very effective and uses a lot more energy than is necessary. BPC Green Homes have a dedicated dehumidification system that removes excess moisture from the air more efficiently than an AC, keeping your home comfortable without unnecessary energy consumption.
- Whole-Home Humidification for Winter
In the dry winter months, homes often have the opposite problem: not enough moisture in the air. That’s why our homes also come with a ducted steam humidifier that prevents the discomfort of dry skin, respiratory issues, static electricity, and even dust accumulation (humidity helps dust particles settle on the ground). This balanced approach to humidity control ensures your home remains comfortable and healthy year-round.
How You Benefit from a BPC Green Home
All of the components in a BPC Green Home are designed to work in harmony, ensuring optimal performance and the following benefits:
Healthier Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air quality (IAQ) is a critical factor in maintaining a healthy home environment. A BPC Green Home plays a significant role in ensuring superior IAQ by filtering out contaminants. The high-rating MERV filter captures pollutants, allergens, and particulates that can cause respiratory problems and exacerbate allergies.
A More Comfortable Home
BPC Green Homes are engineered for comfort. By carefully controlling temperature and humidity, the equipment and systems create a consistent, comfortable indoor environment
Better for the Environment
Energy efficiency is at the heart of every BPC Green Home. Our homes use less energy and optimize operation between the different systems and components. They are also Green with a capital G, meeting a variety of the highest green building certifications and standards.
