BPC Homes Earn Exceptional HERS Scores

BPC Builds Homes with Exceptional Energy Performance Including Net Zero Energy and Positive Energy Homes

The table shows the HERS Index scores of BPC Green Builders’ homes, the green building standards and certifications achieved, if the home uses solar panels and the year the green home was built. This table only shows homes built when the current HERS Indexing system was used. The lower the better. A 0 (zero) HERS score means the home is a net zero energy home. A negative HERS score means the home is a positive energy home.

Note: BPC homes built earlier than those below were built under the previous HERS index system and the scoring was different. Under the old index system, higher scores corresponded to higher efficiency. Those homes are not shown in this table.

* Zero Energy Ready Homes must also be ENERGY STAR and Indoor airPLUS Certified. Some are also Water Sense Certified. Passive House homes are also Zero Energy Ready.

**All new BPC homes are built to meet the Zero Energy Ready Home standards. This means all BPC homes will have excellent HERS scores. However, BPC works with the priorities and budgets of our clients. Therefore, the range of HERS scores for BPC homes is relatively wide, which typically reflects our customers’ priorities and budgets rather than the quality of the construction.

All BPC homes can achieve these levels of Energy Performance and therefore near zero, zero or minus HERS Scores if our clients wish to add the appropriate size solar PV panel array. This is an increasingly selected option by our clients.

*** Energy Performance improvement over a conventional new home’s energy performance. Each percentage point above 100% represents 1% of the energy a normal new home would use, based on a normal new home having a HERS rating of 100.
